Sensitive topics, handled the way you would handle them.
Preview every lesson before it is assigned. Content warnings and teacher notes on the topics that need them. No free-text disclosures, no student messaging, and a Speak to a Teacher link in every module.

Nothing reaches a student unvetted.
Sextortion, grooming, coercion, image-sharing and scams are sensitive by nature. These are the design decisions that keep staff in control of how they are taught.

What you see first
Every lesson opens for staff with its objectives, discussion prompts, teacher notes and, where it applies, the content warning. Assigning is the last step, not the first.
A scenario, not a spotlight
Students work through characters and situations, never their own history. The Speak to a Teacher link sits on every screen and routes to a member of staff you choose at your school, not to us.
A named adult at your school
Tap the link and a student sees who to talk to, their role and where to find them, with a plain reminder that they will not be in trouble for asking. The page records nothing and sends nothing to us. It points them at a real person.
You decide who that is
Your school admin names the contact once: the DSL, a head of year, whoever you want a worried student to find first. Every student screen picks it up. Until it is set, students see general guidance to talk to a teacher or another adult they trust at school.
Cloak helps with the teaching, not the technology.
Keeping Children Safe in Education expects children to be taught how to keep themselves safe online. That is what Cloak for Schools is built for. It is worth being precise about what it is not.
- Interactive online-safety lessons mapped to RSHE and Computing.
- A record of what was taught and who completed it, by class and student.
- Sign-off from a practising DSL on every sensitive topic before it goes live.
- Routes any concern to a trusted adult at the student’s own school.
- Not a filtering or monitoring system. It does not sit on your network or watch student devices.
- Not a replacement for your safeguarding procedures, which stay yours.
- Not a channel for disclosures. It never asks a student to describe their own experience.
- Not automated. AI never approves, publishes or touches student data.
We also asked children aged 8-17 if they had come across anything online that they had found ‘worrying or nasty’, which they didn’t like, in the past month. Close to two in ten (17%) children said they had.
Questions safeguarding leads ask
What happens if a student makes a disclosure?
Does it replace filtering and monitoring?
Who signs off sensitive material?
Can we hold a topic back for a particular class, or for one student?
Ask us the hard questions.
Tell us about your school and we will walk you through how a sensitive topic is built, reviewed and assigned, with the teacher notes in front of you.
