If your inbox gets buried under hundreds of newsletter and sign-up confirmations out of nowhere, it might not be random. Scammers use bots to subscribe your address to loads of real services at once, so the one email that matters — a password reset, a new sign-in, a receipt for something you didn’t buy — gets lost in the noise while they take over an account. Some then ring up pretending to be tech support who can “fix” it for you. Full write-up from ESET WeLiveSecurity.
The move
Don’t bulk-delete in a panic — search your inbox and spam for a real alert, then open your key apps yourself to check them. If something’s changed, set a new password and turn on 2FA; if money or card details are involved, contact the bank straight away. And if anyone rings offering to “fix” it, hang up.
